ヨーロッパで活躍するデジタル革新の先駆者であり起業家。 VU University Amsterdam卒業後、Lemniscaat Business SchoolでMBAを取得。 カリフォルニアのNASA Ames Research CenterにあるSingularity Universityにて、Executive ProgramとAI＆Roboticsを専攻し2016年に卒業。 1998年から2006年まで、インタラクティブマーケティングビューローを共同創設し、オンライン戦略に従事しながら、オランダの3大ウェブサイトのプロジェクトに携わる。 2008〜2015年にはTED.com（Ideas Worth Spreading）世界各国の12大使の一人に選出され、ヨーロッパ、中東、カリブ海諸国のイベントに参画。 2015年にオランダ王室からの要請により、スタートアップのグローバル展開を支援することを目的に「スタートアップ・フェスト・ヨーロッパ」を開催。 このイベントでは、ビジネス界からTim Cook（アップル）、Eric Schmidt（アルファベット）、Travis Kalanaick（Uber）など、政界からAndrus Ansip（欧州委員会副会長）などをオランダに招聘し、イノベーションエコシステムの構築について、積極的な議論が行われた。現在は、人工知能を活用したスタートアップのビジネス支援を行っている。 Source: Osaka Innovation

Gerechtvaardigd techno-optimisme
Sinds ik mij inzet voor TED.com wordt mij vaak de vraag gesteld of ik een “techno-optimist” ben. In die vraag ligt vaak al een mening verscholen, namelijk dat het naief is om te denken dat technologie automatisch al onze problemen gaat oplossen. En hoewel ik het daarmee eens ben, durf ik mij nog steeds techo-optimist te noemen. Aan de technologie zal het namelijk niet
Startups voor een betere wereld
Twee mooie oproepen afgelopen weken op Twitter. Startups worden uitgedaagd om met oplossingen voor de stad en de regio te komen. Bijvoorbeeld in Den Haag (Impact City): en ook in Eindhoven (Brainport Regio): eerder zagen we ook al het “Startup in Residence” in Amsterdam, dat op zijn beurt weer was geïnspireerd op een vergelijkbaar programma in San Francisco.

Opening SingularityU The Netherlands
Op 2 juni opende koningin Maximá de “Innovation Hub” van SingularityU The Netherlands. In de “Apparatenfabriek” werden zo’n 60 technologieën gedemonstreerd die een doorbraak betekenen in bijvoorbeeld voedselvoorziening, waterzuivering, digital health, drones voor veiligheid en virtual / augmented reality. Singularity University is een Amerikaanse denktank opgezet door onder meer Google en Nasa. RTL Boulevard maakte onderstaand filmpje van de opening van hun eerste filiaal
