In the presence of H.M. Queen M\u00e1xima of the Netherlands and OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurr\u00eda, debates at this high-level symposium in Amsterdam on 20-21 April 2016 focussed on financial education amongst kids, youth, adolescents and adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SnFl13kzSPU\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme was carefully chosen: &#8220;Financial Resilience, throughout life&#8221;. Professors, behavioral designers, trendwatchers, policy makers and experts delivered were able to shine their light on topics like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How to design effective financial education interventions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preparing for the unexpected &#8211; avoiding financial vulnerability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retirement planning \u2013 the role of financial literacy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decision making by adolescents \u2013 the growing up of a brain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Making financial education work for youth and in schools<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"665\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jimstolze.nl\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/interview-moneywise.jpg\" alt=\"interview-moneywise\" class=\"wp-image-3091\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jimstolze.nl\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/interview-moneywise.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.jimstolze.nl\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/interview-moneywise-420x279.jpg 420w, https:\/\/www.jimstolze.nl\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/interview-moneywise-744x495.jpg 744w, https:\/\/www.jimstolze.nl\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/interview-moneywise-768x511.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Highlights of the program were an interactive panel session with 4 teenagers from the International School of Rotterdam and a &#8220;talk show&#8221; with Minister of Finance Jeroen Dijsselbloem and the President of the Dutch Central Bank Klaas Knot.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>High-level participants from around the world included officials and experts from the OECD\/International Network on Financial Education (INFE), ministries of finance and education, central banks, regulatory and supervisory authorities, governmental officials, international organisations, the academic community, the private sector and NGOs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week I had the pleasure to be the master of ceremonies at the Global Symposium of the OECD.
